Using Connected Vehicle data to Identify Overtaking and Swerving

The Welsh Government wanted to understand how many vehicles were swerving and overtaking on double white lines along a 7.95km stretch of the A458 (from Cefn to Halfway House).

Using Connected Vehicle data, Compass IoT built a dashboard identifying overtaking behavior in both eastbound and westbound directions, filtering by vehicle type.

Using the dashboard, the client was able to see that 32.58% of drivers were crossing double white lines.
