TfL’s Journey towards Decarbonisation of the Bus Fleet
Transport for London (TfL) is increasingly introducing new zero-emission buses into the London bus fleet to help tackle the twin emergency of poor air quality and climate change.
Decarbonizing TfL’s services and removing diesel means cleaner and greener transport for all.
London has over 1,400 zero-emission buses and aims to convert the entire fleet of c9,000 buses, by 2034, or sooner to 2030 accelerating environmental benefits.
TfL has made huge progress in rolling out zero-emission buses and has the largest zero-emission bus fleet in Western Europe.
Alongside pushing the boundaries of the development of zero-emission bus technology, all new buses joining London’s fleet will have the latest innovative customer and world leading bus safety features, helping to encourage more customers to the bus network and travel more sustainably.
