Solent Transport’s Breeze App

Breeze is a comprehensive travel app designed to simplify multimodal journeys across all transport modes.

It aims to make travel easier, seamless, and more sustainable by removing barriers to public transport use and enhancing customer experience. As the UK’s first and largest fully integrated, multimodal, multi-city Mobility as a Service (MaaS) solution, Breeze is part of the Solent Future Transport Zone (FTZ), funded by the Department for Transport (DfT).

This trial project involves over 40 stakeholders, including transport operators, local councils, universities, and private companies. The app offers journey planning, ticketing, and payment across Southampton, Portsmouth, south Hampshire, and the Isle of Wight for various modes of transport, including bus, rail, micromobility, hovercraft, and car clubs, with more modes being added continuously. Breeze is a cornerstone project of the Solent FTZ, supporting related initiatives like rental e-scooters, Digital Demand Responsive Transport (DDRT), and the UK’s largest mobility credits trial, which helps participants access employment and education opportunities.

It has contributed to the DfT’s MaaS code of practice and provides valuable insights for future MaaS initiatives both nationally and internationally, shaping the future of integrated transport solutions.
