James and James Fulfilment is committed to reduce its carbon emissions and move away from the traditional gas or electric radiant heaters, which use large amounts of power, and the heat leaves the building when the roller shutters open.

Following a three-month trial with the operations team, the chosen solution was the WarmTronics Heat Mats, which use as little as £0.57 per day in electricity and focus on warming the person, not the air.

Installing 36x WarmTronics Heat Mats (200 Watts), rather than 36x traditional Radiant Heaters (2,400 Watts) had the following impact: The financial impact of this innovation is a 92% saving on electricity at -£59,305 per winter.

It had a return on Investment of three months.

The environmental impact of this innovation is a 92% saving on carbon emissions at -46,088kgCO2e per winter (equivalent to driving 192,836 miles).

The social impact of this innovation is the staff engagement to choose the right solution, the built-in anti-fatigue mat for user comfort, and the ability for each person to control their own temperature at their packing bench.

In Winter 2022/23 WarmTronics reduced warehouse heating bills by: -£525,612, and reduced warehouse carbon emissions by: -7,187,575kgCO2e (equivalent of driving -30,073,535 miles).
