Costa Coffee & GXO

The successful partnership between Costa Coffee, the nation’s favourite coffee shop and the largest and fastest growing coffee shop chain in the UK, and GXO, the world’s largest pure-play contract logistics provider, has been expanded to include the delivery of dairy products.

Over 25 million four-pint bottles of milk will now be distributed by GXO to Costa Coffee stores every year, enough to fill 40 Olympic sized swimming pools. Through close collaboration between the two companies, the new operation was implemented successfully in just under 12 months; a tight timeframe particularly due to the complexity of the changes required to ensure a smooth transition.

The new operation has improved operational efficiencies, reduced environmental impact and simplified the supply chain for Costa Coffee.

In addition, a large-scale upskilling project resulted in almost 100 drivers gaining a new licence to operate the upgraded fleet, offering an exciting development opportunity and ensuring that GXO retained a great team.
