However, we also know that electronic waste is the world’s fastest growing waste stream and is expected to grow to nearly 82m tonnes by 2030.

And in the UK, we’re particular guilty offenders, generating the second largest amount of e-waste per capita in the world. E-waste isn’t just any old rubbish either.

The manufacturing of a typical smartphone or laptop now requires, on average, 72 precious elements such as magnesium, cobalt, tungsten and other rare minerals..

and a huge amount of energy to process and refine them.

That’s why we have committed to our ‘Long Live Your Tech’ mission – we think this wonderful technology should lead the longest life possible.

Our Supply Chain and Services Operations team are at the forefront of delivering this mission to give tech a longer life, in addition to playing a pivotal role in helping Currys become a more sustainable and circular business.
