Carry on HI Biking – successfully delivering public bikes in the Highlands

Hi Bike launched in 2021 with support from HITRANS.

It is a public bike system with bikes available 24 / 7 in Inverness and later in Fort William.

After market failure by the company awarded the concession contract, HITRANS stepped in to secure the future of the service in contrast to other market failure events in the sector.

The system is expanding with all services managed and delivered in house.

It is the only public sector e-bike system in the country managed and delivered by a public body at anything like this scale.

Customer services, bike technicians, and management functions all sit with HITRANS.

Recent vandalism issues have been overcome and the value of Hi Bike to the people of the Highlands has been underlined with the strong public support when we faced this issue.
