Shift2Rail – Booking of Rail Cargo Group’s rail and multimodal transports with real-time visibility via the Transporeon platform

Since two decades every stakeholder, whether European Commission or industry, calls for a shift to rail and multimodal freight, due to superior sustainability and efficiency compared to road transport.

However, the reality is contrasting these claims, we have reverse modal shift.

Rail and multimodal transports are considered island solutions and make the integration into shippers´ operations very difficult. Rail Cargo Group and Transporeon joined forces to bridge this gap by providing essential data for rail and multimodal transport in one single platform, which also operates road freight.

In addition, real-time visibility and tracking information is provided in the same application as for road transport, with almost 100% coverage.

Pilot projects with well-known brands such as Nestlé have demonstrated the success of this approach, while this project has been recognised by winning the Austrian Logistics Award.
