The Met Police CVU launched a “Toolbox Talk” in 2022, which is intended to promote safety through engagement with the logistics and haulage industry.

It seeks to educate drivers on road risk, vulnerable road users and legislative changes.

It supports drivers with post incident information and well-being advice and signposting.

It has been described as groundbreaking in building trust and confidence with the police and the industry.

The program acknowledges commercial vehicle drivers as professionals on the road network with a key part to play in road safety.

The program is so well received that it has now been delivered to over 60,000 commercial vehicle operators nationally.

Most importantly, it has been linked to a 62% reduction in preventable road death involving commercial vehicles in London, and 12% reduction nationally, that has been sustained since launch.
