GEODIS
GEODIS has set a new initiative, to further accelerate its 2030 decarbonisation trajectory.
The GEODIS Engineering team were tasked with finding solutions to improve energy and operational efficiencies.
Alongside this, GEODIS’s HSEQ team were tasked with sourcing an alternative to infrared radiant lamp heaters, due to their potential fire risk being close to cardboard.
Following trials at GEODIS Heathrow, and GEODIS Lichfield to seek user feedback, the new, innovative, low-voltage Heat Mat recently launched by UK manufacturer WarmTronics, was chosen as the solution.
WarmTronics’ heating technology warms the person, rather than the air around them and costs as little as £0.57 per day in electricity.
The impact of installing 80x WarmTronics Heat Mats (200 Watts), rather than 80x traditional Radiant Infrared Heaters (2,000 Watts) at GEODIS Lichfield: The Environmental impact of this initiative is a 90% saving on carbon emissions at -51,791kgCO2e per winter (equivalent to driving -216,698 miles).
The operational impact of this initiative is increased productivity from warm employees, especially during winter peak, when it’s critical for GEODIS to be 100% efficient for its customers.
The Financial impact of this initiative is a 90% saving on electricity at -£68,640 per winter.
