Europe’s First RoboShuttle Autonomous Mobile Robot System

Europe’s first RoboShuttle Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) tote-retrieval system for Profulfilment Services (Pro FS) was designed and implemented by SEC Storage.

This project showcases two significant innovations: AI-driven system design and advanced robotics technology. Leveraging big data, machine learning, and virtual twinning, DIDO (Data In, Design Out) autonomously designed an optimal warehouse layout by evaluating over 550 combinations.

Remarkably, DIDO identified the Roboshuttle System as the best fit for Pro FS, a solution previously thought unattainable for SMEs due to cost constraints. The system, features cutting-edge RS and P40 robots, optimizing space and enhancing efficiency.

RS robots retrieve storage totes from up to 8 meters and transport to the ground level, where P40 robots, operating underneath the racking, present the totes to pickers reducing capital expenditure and eliminating the need for fixed infrastructure. Collaboratively adapted by SEC and Pro FS, the system includes AI-driven order clustering, space optimization, and self-learning predictive slotting.

These enhancements have significantly increased operational efficiency, allowing Pro FS to process over 11,000 order lines daily with minimal staffing.
