End To End Integrated Sustainable Logistics
At Maersk, our vision is to transform the flow of the foods, goods, data and materials that sustain people, businesses and economies worldwide.
To enable the exchange of ideas, culture and trust for a truly integrated world where value is created for everyone, it is not sufficient for this to be achieved but it has to be done sustainably, each step of the journey.
The initial drive to provide both vessels and fuels to achieve a large part of the decarbonisation of the supply chain now extends to every part through both asset ownership.
One company cannot achieve this alone and so it is through collaboration with multiple stake holders that this can be achieved. In September 2023, Maersk achieved a pioneering success in revolutionising the net-zero supply chain; Laura Maersk, the world’s first container vessel powered by green methanol.
Discharging at London Gateway, containers were then transported through the terminal on electric equipment, then taken by HVO-powered train to the East Midlands Gateway Freeport, the final leg transported by Express Freight Electric Vehicle; the final destination being Maersk’s newest warehouse at East Midlands Gateway, which operates to BREEAM excellent standards, the highest accreditation for measuring a building’s environmental performance.
