In October 2022, APCOA trialed five Great Western Railway sites with ScanPay® technology.

Customers use their smart phone camera to scan a QR code which immediately links to the parking tariff options at that particular site.

Payment can be made using a card or via Apple or Google pay if the customer already has this installed on their phone.

ScanPay® was created as a forward-thinking natural progression towards digitalization, keeping APCOA ahead of the curve and providing a fast, frictionless, registration-free option which simplifies the experience for customers.

Just over 12 months on from the initial trial, this innovative and accessible parking payment option has been seamlessly deployed to a staggering 550+ sites with over 1,000,000 annual transactions in the rail sector alone.

Negating the need for printed tickets and machine maintenance visits, ScanPay® offers sustainable savings in paper and fuel costs.

The size and positioning of the signage makes it far more accessible for users with disabilities who may find fixed height payment machines more difficult to use.
