Achieving Warehouse Sustainability at DSV: Using Verity’s Autonomous Inventory Tracking System to Reduce CO2 Emissions
DSV and Verity are excited to present their groundbreaking warehouse automation collaboration for the 2024 Sustainable Supply Chain Award.
This partnership, initiated in 2021, has revolutionized inventory management in DSV’s warehouses through the implementation of Verity’s autonomous inventory tracking system.
The initial deployment in a 24,500 sqm warehouse with 57,000+ pallet locations showcased immediate benefits, leading to expanded implementation across DSV’s global network. Verity’s solution uses self-flying drones to perform precise, targeted scanning, creating a complete digital twin of the warehouse for accurate, real-time inventory tracking.
This automation reduces the need for manual scanning, enhances data accuracy, and minimizes downtime for core operations.
The system’s intelligence, partly residing on the drones, allows for efficient in-flight processing and optimal flight path management, further reducing energy consumption and emissions. Across DSV sites installed to date, Verity has significantly reduced DSV’s inventory-related emissions by 22% and improved energy efficiency by using drones that consume up to 30 times less electricity than forklifts.
The solution contributes to DSV’s sustainability goals, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 1,000 tons per year and supporting five Sustainable Development Goals.
This innovative approach not only enhances operational efficiency but also supports DSV’s commitment to sustainable growth and customer satisfaction.
